Kicks was asked by the Austrian site gothic.at to send in a best of 2011… Gladly we tried to create a list, but being not so great at making those (it’s always an endless list when we try to put everything we like in it) it has worked out to be a list (in alphabetical order) of things that really stuck in our minds this year. Tonight is the first edition of ‘Retro Kicks’, a show that features old school music from long ago.
In this edition we go way back from the end of the sixties to the middle of the seventies, with Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Velvet Underground, Captain Beefheart, Pink Floyd, Black Widow, Deep Purple, Love, White Noise, The Soft Machine, Faust, Heldon, Thin Lizzy, Brian Eno, Pavlov’s Dog, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Residents, Magma, The Stooges and Henry Cow.

Thanks to a new recording output in the studio of Radio Centraal we are able to record the show live every week and make it available to stream on our website. Today the test phase has been started to see if it’s possible to make the latest Kicks show available for a limited time. On the right sidebar you’ll see a button on which you can click to open up the player containing the stream in a new window. We will do our best to upload the newest show every Thursday, the day after the live stream wich can be listened to on the Radio Centraal website. So from now on everybody who is not able to listen to the live stream can enjoy our show at the moment that suits them best.
